I finally {after 3 months of looking} decided on a new lamp for the end table in my living room. I found this beauty on clearance at TJ Maxx for $20. Not bad considering I had seen the exact same lamp {except the base was lime green} a few months back for $35. I love the square shade and the geometric pattern on the base....but I was not really in love with the color. So, I grabbed a roll of tape and masked off the areas I didn't want painted...mainly the hardware and the cord.
Then I got busy with my black glossy spray paint.

Love this lamp! Looks amazing. Hubby has been spray painting all of our base board heating, white. They looked horrible and now brand new! It's amazing what a can of paint can do.
ReplyDeleteLove that! I like the square shape too...it's so unique, and I love the black!
ReplyDeleteI have an old little phone table that I plan on using in the nursery, but it needs painted...I can't decide what color? I think the nursery will be pink and green, but I am just not coming up with any ideas right now!
Nice boxy shape and the black is definitely better. I spray painted a candy can and thread spool!!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how great a nice shiny coat of black totally transforms that lamp! I love spray paint - nothing is safe in our house anymore!
ReplyDeleteI have never used spray paint...gasp, I know. I love the way the lamp turned out and that you found something that you like. I know that's hard when you have something in mind and can't find it.
ReplyDeleteIt turned out great! I need to find some lamps for my living room also. The only spray painting I've done is picture frames in navy:)
ReplyDeleteI can't remember the last time I spray painted anything. LOL
ReplyDeleteI really, really am not the crafty type. I can't look at something and say, "OH! I like that. I'll just spray paint it the color I want." I just don't *think* crafty.
i just sprayed some old pots hammered black. they used to be blue but we just painted out house and they needed an update. pots are so expensive i couldn't buy new. the paint did the trick.
ReplyDeleteoooh! i love it! the black really pops!
ReplyDeleteLove it black!!! It looks fabulous, Kelli. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, very trendy! Good job.
ReplyDeleteYes you do and the black and white look great together. I love how shiny it is. Fabulous.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, it looks so much better in black!!!!! Wow..that's great!
ReplyDeleteHow do you have that vision?? I WANT that vision!
ReplyDeleteTotally awesome!!! And I'm with the comment above mine...I need that vision!
ReplyDeleteThis is really a response to something you wrote on Mimi's blog, but... Since hers was a contest, I didn't want to add a non-entry comment.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Krispy Kreme!!! Mmm... The closest one to me is forever away (which I guess is good for my wallet and waistline). I like filled-doughnuts from Dunkin' better, but if you're giving me a glazed doughnut, it had better be KK. :)
Nice! It's amazing what a can of paint and 15 minutes can do to something!! Love it, it looks much better black than the gray-ish colour it was before!
ReplyDeleteHere from NFF!
love the square shade! nice job on the color too!
ReplyDeleteLove this!! I wasn't so sure how I liked the lamp - but in black it looks fantastic!!!
ReplyDeleteBlack makes a bolder statement. I am always so scared to try things like this!
ReplyDeleteI got the same lamps for $11 each for my daughter's room...the blue IS a little funny. She is deciding what color to spray them right now! The shape is what drew me to them as well!
ReplyDeleteWow, the lamp did turn out great. The black just pops.
ReplyDeleteIn the morning we are going to start painting the new shop. Let's just say I will be sick of painting when we have all the buildings painted.
Hope you are having a great weekend!
I'm all about repurposing! Love it, Kelli.
