I decided that after five years of using the same small {and SUPER cute} Easter baskets, that I need to upgrade the boys' baskets to something that will hold more than 3 eggs a little bigger.
I found some cute fruit baskets at Hobby Lobby for $3.99 each, and I decided that they were just the right size for Easter baskets. I also picked up some polka dot ribbon and some wooden tags while I was there. With a little bit of spray paint and hot glue, I knew I could make some SUPER cute Easter baskets! I painted the baskets and let them dry over night.
I used my hot glue gun to attach a strip of ribbon around the basket.
I followed the brace in the center of the basket, but you could really put the ribbon anywhere you want.
Then I tied a cute little bow on one side of the basket for a little more color.
I used some wooden tags {4/$1 at Hobby Lobby} and Mod Podged each of the boys' names on them in colors that coordinated with the ribbon. {In case you haven't noticed before, Henry's color is always blue, Grant is always green, and Eli is always orange} Then, I used my Cropodile to add the grommet, but you could just make a hole and pull the ribbon through without it.
I tied the name tag on with another piece of polka dot ribbon, and filled the basket up with green paper Easter grass.

BUNNY CAKE
Henry's class had an Easter party yesterday, so I decided to make a Bunny Cake.
Henry's class had an Easter party yesterday, so I decided to make a Bunny Cake.
You need two round cakes, icing, and candy to decorate with.
Leave one of the round cakes whole and cut bunny ears out of the other. {You can also make the extra piece from the ears into a bow tie, but I didn't have room for it on my baking pan.}
Cover the cake in icing.
And then decorate away. I usually cover the whole cake in coconut, but I figured the Kindergartners might turn their noses up at it:)
A simple and easy Bunny Cake perfect for an Easter party!
I hope everyone has a great Easter weekend!
(46) and Jesus said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, (47) and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. Luke 24:46-47

For years, as long as I can remember that is the exact cake my mama has been making. For as long as I've had daycare and my son I have been making it also. So cool to see someone else with the same idea. I love you baskets. Hope over when you have a moment and see the ones I made this year. Super duper easy.

ReplyDeleteSausha @ {show & tell}
Those baskets are amazingly cute! Love that you are so crafty. The polka dots are great! And love that all of your boys each have their own colors! And I am a little jealous that you can still take baked goods to your son's school for parties...one we aren't even allowed to have parties at my school and two everything brought in needs to be store bought in the original package. Love the bummy cake...very cute!
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed Easter
that is it!!! I WANT TO HAVE YOUR CRAFTINESS !!!! those baskets are AWESOME!!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome job on the baskets and the cake!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to do a bunny cake this year, but Layla decided she didn't like coconut. We did cupcakes instead :)

Oh my goodness....adorable!! I love the baskets and the cake!! Thanks so much for stopping by my blog; nice to meet you! -shaunna :)
ReplyDeleteYour boys' baskets are great and the cake is so cute!!
ReplyDeleteI have four sons...come on over for some mom inspiration and encouragement.
wow you are AMAZING!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog. I'm glad I came over - you certainly are a supermomma with some great ideas. I'll be back. I'm a new follower ;)
ReplyDeleteI love those beautiful baskets-you did an amazing job!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm usually too lazy to actually stop and comment, but I just had to when I saw your baskets! So simple, yet amazing!! Wow. I'm in love. I <3 ribbon. Great job.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea because we have seven children, with number eight on the way, never really knowing if we are "done". Buying overpriced Easter baskets, that are always cheaply made, and maybe or maybe not being able to find one to match "if" we are pregnant again the next year. I can totally do this!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I love the idea! However, I have tried twice today to paint the basket white using 2 different types of spray paint and am not getting the color I want. What type of paint did you use? They are awesome looking; mine are hideous! Thank you for this adorable idea, I one day hope I can grow up and be as crafty as you! Thanks, Crystal
ReplyDeleteLove this!!
ReplyDeleteMy kids are color coded too! i am so happy I'm not the only one!!
These are the cutest! I am doing a mini feature this afternoon and sending my readers over!

ReplyDeleteThey are so cute, I love the bright primary colors and that cake is ADORABLE!
ReplyDeletePolka dots are so in! That ribbon is nice. This just goes to show you can be crafty without spending a lot of money.
