Random Thoughts...

I made a SUPER yummy homemade cherry pie last week. Who knew it was so hard {and messy} to pit fresh cherries?!? I guess it was worth all the work, because the whole pie was gone after only three days!

The boys and I walked out to get the mail the other day, and the sky was so gorgeous I had to run inside and grab my camera! Isn't this one of the strangest {and most beautiful} sunsets you have ever seen!

The house was quiet at the beginning of the week, because Henry and Grant went over to my mom's for a few days! It was just me and Eli hanging out, and he hasn't been feeling the best so he took some really long naps. It is so strange how lazy days seem to take forever to pass, but they also seem like they are over so fast! After spending a few days with {just} Eli, I am learning what the house is going to be like when school starts in a few weeks. I am excited and {maybe} a little worried that we are going to get bored! I'm sure once the school year gets going we will be running around like crazy doing a ton of stuff.....I guess I should be enjoying the last few lazy days of summer that we have left!

At my mom's earlier this week, the boys were playing with a hockey stick. Grant came into the kitchen and started swatting at some Cheerios that Eli had dropped. Grant said "I hocked Eli's Cheerios!" I couldn't help but laugh at him trying to make hockey a verb.....kids can be so funny sometimes!

My laundry is done for the week! WooHoo! Except I may have to do a load for the boys {well at least Henry and Grant} because they are getting low on undies...unless I just let them hang out in the bathing suit for the next two days!

We went to a children's museum yesterday with my friend Karen and her kids. The museum is about 45 minutes away, and we have never been before {so sad}! The kids {six of them counting Eli} had a great time playing and exploring all the SUPER cool exhibits! After the museum, we tempted fate and took the kids to Chuck E. Cheese! It was actually not that bad....not very crowded or too loud {the complete opposite of what CEC is usually like}! I will post some pictures from our fun trip tomorrow after I have a little time to edit them, but here is a little sneak peek at all the fun we had yesterday!

The verses from the message at church last night seemed so applicable to my life right now, that I just had to share them! I want to have the faith that Jesus provides even {and especially} in the middle of a storm!

Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, Lord, save us! We're going to drown!" He replied, "You of little faith, why are you so afraid?" Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves and it was completely calm. The men were amazed and asked, "What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!" Matthew 8:23-27.

We are heading back to the Splash Pad this morning for a SUPER fun play date and picnic with friends! I am so glad that I am feeling good, and that I am able to take the boys to all these fun places this summer!

  6. I make apple pies from scratch, but have never attempted a cherry one-no one in my house is all that crazy about cherries. That was a beautiful sunset picture!! I'm glad you had fun at Lynn Meadows! Sorry I didn't make it to the splash pad (again.) Ash was up late crying with some teen drama stuff (and she's not even a teen yet! And yes, she's ok) so after I collapsed into the bed at almost 1:30, Emmie got up twice between 2 and 6, and Noah was up by 7! I'm so tired I can hardly see straight. I can't believe we only have 2 full weeks left of summer before school starts! UGH.

  7. That sunset is gorgeous! I'm a little shocked your pie lasted 3 days. Did you only have 1 pie? 'Cause in my house, 1 pie lasts less than 12 hours.
