Miscellany Monday

It doesn't feel like a Monday...or at least it doesn't feel like Monday should be here already. Eli had gymnastics on Mondays now, and that is completely throwing off my 'try to get all the chores done on Monday so I'm not constantly cleaning the house' plan! Oh well, I guess I will just have to clean the house on Tuesday instead:)

My kitchen will have to be first on the list for sure. Yesterday Jason said that we were on our way to being featured on the show Hoarders! It's not that bad, but there sure is a ton of stuff piled up on my kitchen counters right now.

I attempted to take a few pictures of Eli last week.

The overalls he has on were mine when I was little. My mom took pictures with me and my two sisters wearing them when we were around 18 months to 2 years old. Henry and Grant also had their picture taken wearing the same overalls. We've tried to take pictures twice in the overalls, but both times were major fails...and now Eli is almost too big to even get them on his behind! I got a few okay shots, but none of them were wonderful. I guess we will try again {soon}!

My uncle passed away Saturday after a long battle with cancer. I spent the majority of the weekend with family, either at the hospital or at my aunt's house. The services are tonight and tomorrow morning, and I'm sure we will be doing family stuff for most of the week. We haven't really talked to Henry and Grant about it yet. I figured when they started to ask more questions we would talk to them. Death is just such a hard thing to explain to a child....I mean I barely understand it sometimes!

I found a little time to craft last week while Jason was out of town for work and the boys were all asleep. For some reason, I do not sleep well when my hubby is away...so instead of sleeping, I worked on some crafts! I had a craft fail sitting on my dining room table, and I made another attempt at it. It turned out pretty good. After I get it in the mail to my friend {it is a wedding gift}, I will share my step by step do's and do not's!

  3. I love that first picture. It looks great!! Definitely a framer. And the comment about "hoarders" made me laugh. Sometimes I feel that way about our spare bedroom. And it makes me a little panicky to think about moving in a few months. Then I'll be forced to go through it all!

I'm so sorry to hear about your uncle. I hope you are able to spend lots of time surrounded by your family. Hugs.

I actually caught that show Hoarders yesterday and my-oh-my...it's so sad and more stuff than I expected. Wow. Good luck cleaning out the kitchen. I had to tackle a few piles this weekend too.

    Eli is too cute!

Ooh, I'm excited to hear about and see the craft! I'm sure it's great. I can't sleep when my hubby is gone either...I think that's pretty common!

    Happy Monday!

  6. I am sorry to hear about your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

I think he is a cutie!! I have overalls that were mine when I was a baby that I had my picture in...I didn't follow suite and take photos of my girls in them... :( What a great idea that would have been! And it's way too late now. Oh well.

I wouldn't sleep well without my hubby at home either. Heck, I have a hard time going to sleep sometimes without him in the same room. Yea, I know! And I complain about out youngest with the same problem! Oooops. :-)

  9. I'm so sorry to hear about your uncle. I pray that your family finds peace in his passing. I hear you on explaining death to kids. I lost my sister last year and my 4 year old and I had lots of interesting conversations about life and death. Not easy.

Eli looks precious in those overalls! I think it is so incredibly special that those were yours!

  10. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your uncle. I know with Trey it was always hard for us to explain a death of a family member but like the Lord says to have faith like a child, Trey sure does. We tell him they have went to Heaven and that is the end of the story. Isn't that amazing, how I need to take lessons from him.
I do love the photos of Eli, the second one is my favorite.
Have a good Monday and I will be right with you tomorrow cleaning the house as I didn't get mine clean today either!

  12. I am so sorry to hear about your uncle. Tommy has been very interested in death lately - its hard to explain to them, and sometimes I am glad they don't completely grasp it.

I completely understand what you mean about having trouble sleeping when your husband is away. I can't even go to bed when mine is at a hockey game - I have to wait for him to come home before I can sleep.

  16. So sorry to hear about your Uncle. I'm sure he is so happy in the thought that his family is spending lots of time together. Enjoy this time with them, I'm sure he knows it & it makes him smile.
The overalls are adorable. We do a picture for the girls in my family with a dress my Grammy wore when she was a baby. For boys (which I have yet to be able to do) there is this little suit that my dad & uncles wore. Hmmmm, maybe one day... probably not, but maybe???

  19. Oh...I think the pictures of Eli are super adorable! How fun to have them all in the same outfit!

so sorry to hear about your uncle...it sure is tough explaining death and why that happens. I've tried to talk about it some to Alex and Emily too...it's almost as successful as talking about birth! haha! I basically say that it's all because that's what God chooses...and we don't always have to know why or how :)

Can't wait to see your craft...I'm sure it's great! And I know the feeling of being like a hoarder! the kitchen is always the first place to collect things...especially now that school's started again...sigh...
