Sidewalk Chalk Paint!

This SUPER fun project {Sidewalk Chalk Paint}was orginally posted over at Postively Splendid as part of Amy's Summer Survival Guide. I am reposting just in case you missed it, but please go over and check out all the other awesome summer ideas that have been {and will be} posted throughout the month of May!
Positively Splendid

We love regular chalk at our house. It's relatively cheap, not too messy, and it is the perfect outdoor activity! Basically the kids love chalk because it's fun and I love chalk because they are making a mess outside and not inside:) What I don't love about chalk are all the little broken pieces that pile up after a few weeks of use. I hate to throw them away, but they are just too small to use without scraping your fingers on the concrete!
Instead of throwing them out, we are going to turn those broken piece of chalk into paint! Start by sorting your chalk by color. This is a great teaching activity for any kiddo who is working on learning their colors.
Put each individual color into a zippered bag.
Seal up the bag and then break up the chalk using a small hammer. This should be done by an adult or a {very} well supervised child. Try and break the chalk into a fine powder to make you paint as smooth as possible.
One you have your powdered chalk, pour each color into small plastic cups.
Add a little water.
And stir around with a paint brush to dissolve the chalk powder. We used some inexpensive art brushes that are now our chalk paint brushes:) All of the chalk powder may not dissolve, but your paint should still work fine. Use a different brush for each color and then let the kiddos get busy making art on your sidewalk. The colors may be hard to see at first, but as soon as they start to dry the individual colors will show up well!

The best part about chalk paint is that if someones spills it, it isn't a big deal because all you need is a water hose to clean up the mess!
And that is how you turn broken chalk pieces into a ton of summer fun!

Blog Swap with Stacy from Not JUST a Housewife!

Today I'm over at Not JUST a Housewife....and you get the pleasure of meeting the awesome Stacy! After you "ooh" and "aah" over all of Stacy's awesome-ness {I mean seriously check out that stenciled ceiling}, hop over and say "HI" to me too:) And don't forget my SUPER cute Valentine Dish Towels giveaway ends tonight, so get in those extra entries!
Hi! I'm Stacy from Not JUST A Housewife and I am so excited to be swapping with Kelli today!!! I just recently found her site and fell in love! She has so many cute ideas. So thanks Kelli for letting me post here today :)

I am a stay at home mom to 4 little boys and I love it! It can be challenging being a stay at home mom and keeping my sanity though. Creating things and sharing them on my blog helps. Here are some of the things you can find on my blog.

I refinished this antique desk. You should see what it looked like before! I have a tutorial on how I did it HERE.

I needed more lighting in my front room but my hubby was unemployed at the time and I had zero budget for one. So I made this one out of scrap wood left over from other projects. Then I hand painted one of my designs on a lamp shade I had. I did have to buy a $10.00 lamp kit but I think it was worth the splurge! See the complete tutorial HERE.

With 4 busy boys I am always looking for fun activities to do with my kids. They love this felt face activity! I cut out a bunch of different noses, different eyes, mouths, etc and they can make their own faces however they want over and over. See how to make them HERE.

If I can't find the right fabric I just paint my own!

See how I fixed up our old bathroom for around $75.00!

I also recently stenciled my entire bedroom ceiling. It took 4 days because I had 49 million interuptions, but it was worth it. I love waking up to a pretty ceiling! You can see more picture and how I did it HERE. There is also a tutorial on how I made the Chandelier HERE
I host a linky party on Tuesdays called Show me what ya got! So come party with me on Tuesdays :)

I have an etsy shop called The Housewife Boutique, too. I recently added a ton of necklaces, hair clips and headbands.

You can visit my shop by clicking HERE.

I also sometimes chat about "mom" things like BABY WEIGHT, bad days, traditions, cleaning, etc. So come and visit me sometime at Not JUST A Housewife :)

We have three children together Preston 8, Arabella 4, and Ryker 15 mos. Together we live in beautiful Southern Utah. I stay at home with my dumplings and keep busy with them. As well as many crafts, projects, diy days, decorating, cooking, and of course blogging. Let me share just some of the things I enjoy doing, creating, and sprucing, and then blogging them ;)

I will start you off, by showing you this chair and table my hunny and I re-finished a little over a year ago. It was light oak on top and the base and chairs were a aqua country blue, with big blue and white gingham cushions. I told the hun, that I wanted black and dark walnut. We HE worked hard, but I helped too!

Here is a DIY picture arrangment or grouping I put together in my hallway nook. I "ADORE" my children. This was a very populare post and even was featured on Somehwhat Simple. ;)

One large DIY project I did, was finding this huge shelf on Craigslist in knotty pine and then painting, painting, touching up, and sanding it. Its a treasure I sure enjoy, as well as changing it out and decorating it for the holidays.

I love LOVE to decorate, and will show you my decorations in hopes to inspire. ;) I especially show my decorations during the holidays. I love to decorate my entry table, here is my Entry table as of now.

Another DIY project I did was prime, paint, decoupage, and vinyl my daughters headboard.

I love to craft, and just recently opened up a craft blog SO FOR those of you who enjoy crafts, and crafts blogs are more your speed, I would love for you to come check me out. However, all my home decor, DIY, decorating, Fashion Fridays, and many more things including all things Larsen... will be on LarsenLoves.
