Monthly Craft Challenge: Ribbon

craft challenge
Heidi over at Blue Eyed Blessings hosts a monthly craft challenge and this month's challenge is ribbon! I love ribbon {just one more reason I really need a little girl} and love to play around with it! You were supposed to create something new with ribbon, but I cheated a little {I have been sick people!} and just took some photos of some older projects. I have a few {as many as you can have with a house full of boys} SUPER cute ribbon craft around the house, so I figured I would play along in this month challenge!

The mobile over the baby bed

The mobile is actually an old wrought iron plant holder that I bought at a huge arts and crafts show! I loved how elegant and different it was! I hung it over the baby bed when Henry was a new baby and at first it was just the plant holder/mobile. As he got a little older I used ribbon to tie some bright toys on it so he would have something to look at while he was laying in his bed.

Eli's Wreath

I made a wreath for each of my boys to hang on the door at the hospital when they were born. They have all looked pretty much the same except for the name! This is Eli's wreath. I spray painted a grape vine wreath white and then wrapped it with some SUPER cute blue polka dotted ribbon. Then I painted some letters and hot glued them to the wreath. Add a few little accessories and you have a really cute wreath to put on your hospital door...and to decorate the nursery with when you get home!

Paci Holders

I saw some cute paci holders at a boutique {they cost around $15} when I was pregnant with Eli, and thought...I can do that! So I made a few for Eli using some ribbon, a covered button kit, and a plastic badge clip. They turned out really cute, and I have actually made a few for baby gifts also. They are SUPER easy to make and really affordable {I would say maybe $3 each} to make your own!

Block Letter Name

All three of my boys have had their names on the wall in the nursery over the changing table. I bought the letters for each of their names, painted them white, and then hot glued ribbon the back. It is SUPER easy to do and makes a baby room look so personal. Henry and Grant's names both looked a little better because the letter hung from the ribbon a little neater. Eli name is so straight that the ribbon doesn't really hang down very pretty. Eli's name was also shorter than my other two so I made the matching plaques {because I didn't want to fill in the nail holes!} on either sided of his name with some wooden blocks, wallpaper scraps, and ribbon.

I hope you enjoyed my ribbon creations! Go check out Heidi's blog and see what other crafty and creative things everyone is doing with ribbon!

Many fun ideas. I like your paci holders. That would save us a whole lot of searching for missing pacifiers!

You are so stinkin creative! I wanted letters for Emmie's nursery too, but considering her 'nursery' is a corner of my bedroom, it will have to wait till we can remodel!! But that is exactly what I was going to do with them!!

wow...you are so crafty! Those are amazing...you should open an Etsy shop! I always see stuff like that, pay wayyy too much for it in a boutique and then find someone who made something exactly like it for like $5.

This is the perfect way to showcase your ribbon projects. I love that you just took a camera and searched your house to share some ribbon inspiration! I did the same thing with the wooden letters in my daughter's room, but I didn't think to share that idea! I'm so glad you shared. Thanks for joining the party and Happy Thursday.

I followed your lead to Blue Eyed Blessings and will be making the hairbow holder. My granddaughter's birthday is next week and one of the things her Mother asked for was hairbows. I bought the hairbows and went to Hobby Lobby yesterday to get the ribbon and other materials to make this. Will post when it if complete! Thanks for the idea.
