I Heart Faces: Bundled Up

This picture is from our snow/ski vacation that we went on back in February! This is really the only time all year that we have been "bundled" up! It gets sort of cold where we live, but it was SUPER cold up on that mountain in North Carolina! This is Eli all bundled up watching Henry and Grant practice their skiing on the bunny trail! I just love all the snow falling and the ski lift in the background!

SafetyTat Review and Giveaway

Do you ever see something online or in the store and think, "I have got to get that!"?!?

Well, that is how I felt the first time I saw a review of SafetyTats! But being the busy mom that I am, I stored it in the back of my mind, but never really followed through! So, when I got an email from the SafteyTat people offering to send me their product to review and giveway, I was SUPER excited! Here is a little bit of information on SafeyTats:
"Quick Stick Write-on!" SafetyTats
-applied without water
-are shipped blank so customers can write in emergency contact information
-are vibrant and opaque, so they work equally well on all skin tones
-ultra-durable
-last up to two weeks
-stretchable, breathable microthin elastomer
-Medical grade adhesive
PLUS they are SUPER cute!

I decided to try my sample pack on Eli, since he is the most likely of my children to get lost!
I think my favorite thing about SafetyTats is that they last so long...you only need one per kid for your entire vacation. They stay on for up to two weeks or until you take them off! That means I don't have use a new one each day, just tat the kiddos up the first day and no more worries for the rest of the trip! How cool and convient is that! Plus they really are SUPER cute:)

Got Bread?

I do!
A friend passed on a starter of Amish Friendship Bread to me last week and this is what I ended up with:
I think you are technically supposed to divide the batter into two loaf pans.
But I used my Angel Food cake pan instead!
It turned out so yummy!

I obviously couldn't wait to take pictures before I cut into it and tasted it!

So now I have three of these:
that I have to pass on to someone else!
Have you ever made Amish Friendship Bread before?!?

Ribbon and Pearls

I have seen a few SUPER cute necklaces lately that incorporate grograin ribbon and pearls. I really liked the look of them, but just couldn't let myself spend $20 or more for a necklace that I knew I could make for a lot less money. So that is exactly what I did:)
I purchased jewlery cording, a string of {faux} pearls, and some grograin ribbon at Hobby Lobby. I spent a total of $5 on all three items that I used in this project:)
I started out by cutting a generous length of ribbon and then attaching a starter pearl to the ribbon with a needle and the jewelery cording. Make sure to leave a pretty good length of extra ribbon on the end to use as the tie.
Then I alternated adding a pearl....
and making a loop of ribbon.
************************
There are a lot of different ways to do the ribbon, you can do a small loop, wrap the ribbon around a pearl, or even do two pearls in a row and then wrap the ribbon around both of them. It was basically trial and error to see what would work and what looked the best.
I kept alternating pearls and ribbon until the necklace was the lenght I wanted, then I tied off the last pearl and made sure it was attached securely {I had to sneak in a little hot glue to make sure that the cording didn't slip and let the two end pearls fall off}.
Then I made a matching bracelet using the leftover ribbon and pearls!
They are not perfect by any means, but I think they both turned out really cute and I got a necklace and bracelet set for only $5!
